Read this book.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>A History of the World in 1000 Objects<\/strong> [DK\/Smithsonian]<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kashmirnetwork.com\/justju\/images\/hotw.jpg\" width=\"200\"><\/p>\n<p><em>The intro starts off with this line &#8211; &#8216;There is something magical about the survival of human-made objects from the past.&#8217;  History leaping out from the pages is the real magic of this book.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Prisoners of Geography<\/strong> by Tim Marshall<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kashmirnetwork.com\/justju\/images\/pog.jpg\" width=\"200\"><\/p>\n<p><em>Why nations act the way they do &#8211; its in their <del>genes<\/del> geography.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Two real disappointments this year were <strong>Exit West<\/strong> &#8211; with one of my favourite authors Mohsin Hamid [<em>Moth Smoke\/The Reluctant Fundamentalist<\/em>] not quite able to pull off magical realism &#8211; and <strong>Artemis<\/strong> by Andy Weir [<em>The Martian<\/em>].<\/p>\n<p><center> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kashmirnetwork.com\/justju\/images\/ew.jpg\" width=\"200\">     <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kashmirnetwork.com\/justju\/images\/artemis.jpg\" width=\"200\"><\/center><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kashmirnetwork.com\/justju\/images\/sign.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> These are my favourites among all the books I have read in 2017, not <em>published<\/em> in that year \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari We of the east cannot fathom why westerners have forsaken religion.
